She creates such a warm homely environment wherever the birth ends up taking place (Plan A was a homebirth for us but ended up at the hospital at the Birth Centre). I turned to Ruth for birth support as I'm a single mother by choice and I don't have any family in the UK. Our birth plan was quickly overtaken by events. Just a few days before my due date I started developing signs of pre-eclampsia and had to plan for a C-section. Ruth was incredibly flexible as she was initially meant to be in theatre with me but then my sister flew over from Italy. Her help in the early days of my son's life while I was recovering from my surgery was priceless. She was flexible with her hours, often staying longer when we were taking my baby out for walks or she was trying to assemble baby stuff for me (assembling is such a headache for solo mums!!). She helped me build confidence as a mother, handle all the initial breastfeeding challenges, overcome my fears of taking my baby out alone and showed me how to use the buggy up and down steps and on buses. Ruth has a wealth of experience with babies and having her around made me and my son feel protected and loved. She was there with us during all the key milestones from my son's first month anniversary to his first bath and first flight. She was a source of inspiration when picking activities such as baby footprint artwork and newborn photoshoots. The greatest thing about Ruth is that she truly loves helping people and supporting women in the most important moment of their lives. The sisterhood we have created will last forever.
